Where’s the sense?

A thought just occurred to me – this should be a video blog! I figured from the start that there’s not much point in describing a visual thing with mere words, but did so nevertheless. A video blog would be much more suitable in tracking the progress. It might actually even be cool, where as just writing is merely pointless.

However, I still have to toy with the idea for a while – I’m not very keen on taking videos of myself. These days that shouldn’t be much of a problem, but I am quite a relic from the past

Reverse 3-ball cascade

*Hoorray* Learned it.

Not that difficult at all actually. And in the meantime the 3-ball shower has improved a bit too.

The most confusing thing here was the fact that when I was learning the 3-ball cascade for the first time ever, some one told me that I could try tossing one ball from the outside every now and then – but only once. Thus I didn’t even try to learn the reverse version before I saw it on some list.

..A list I still haven’t made here..

Slow progress

It does seem that even a little practice a day does create some progress. I haven’t really had energy or time to practice during the last week, so I’ve just been tossing the balls for a few minutes per day.

I’ve been trying to teach my hands to manage a single handed 2-ball shower in preparation for the 4-ball fountain. Right hand is doing pretty good, left sucks as usual .

The real surprise to me was the 3-ball shower. With absolutely no success this far, I suddenly managed to make about 7 catches. And the throws seem much more accurate. A clear correlation to the amount of catches, but still surprising

…or perhaps the balls were just afraid of my street credible bandanna.

Geez… this might turn out to be lot more challenging than I first expected. There’s a ton of things you can do!

The first throws…

…were already thrown some time ago. A fellow worker had three juggling balls at the office. I had never tried juggling, if you don’t count trying to keep 2 oranges in the air. And I don’t count.

Anyways, the office-clown(*) told me how to practice the 3-ball cascade. He said that try that for some minutes, sleep on it, try again tomorrow and you’ll be able to do it. I tried. I tried again the next day. I tried again… you get the drift?

It took me two weeks of constant coffee break juggling at the office to actually get somewhat comfortable with the 3-ball cascade. Inspired by such a success, I even bought a set of balls for myself. Just three for starters.

This blog tells of my unlikely success in learning to juggle beyond the very basics. To justify naming the blog a ‘challenge’, I gave myself time until New Years eve for learning to juggle 5 balls, both cascade and shower.

I probably need to set some kind of penalty or reward to make this more interesting, but at the moment nothing comes to mind. Any suggestions?
